Who could have guessed that 53 years into a career, the Hawkwind juggernaut still wouldn’t have run out of road? The Future Never Waits, the band’s 35th studio album, feels like a late renaissance work of wonder, where motorik-driven power plays like The End segue into dreamy passages of psychedelic whimsy on tracks such as Aldous Huxley. The Orb come to mind on the latter or, more controversially, Pink Floyd – arch nemeses from back when they were still calling themselves Hawkwind Zoo.
