Ineffable KLONOSPHERE French project balance light and shade on impressive debut. While there’s a weightlessness to HamaSaari’s reflective modern prog, that isn’t to say their menu is without spice. Featuring former members of Shuffle, that band’s Karnivool-inspired tonalities have been funnelled in an altogether more tranquil sound. Ethereal, oscillating acoustic guitars introduce Different Time, a song that grows incrementally towards a chorus that bursts out of the mix at full pelt before deftly dipping back down for its intervening passages. It typifies the band’s approach to songwriting, with coarse moments scratching at their sonic softness to heighten the effects of both.
