It’s been seven years since prog metallers Symphony X last released an album, but guitarist Michael Romeo hasn’t been idly twiddling thumbs. Prog finds out more about his grand third solo album, War Of The Worlds, Pt. 2, and what may be ahead for his day job band.

“Who knows? Maybe that’s what I’ll do today,” Symphony X guitarist Michael Romeo surmises at the end of his chat with Prog as he talks about finding inspiration for the band’s next album. “I’ll maybe look at some Poe and Lovecraft. If I find it, I’ll know. Or I could just write about Star Wars. That’d be easy.” It has been seven long years since the prog metallers’ last album, Underworld. Some restless fans have grown impatient, but there are valid reasons behind the wait – not least singer Russell Allen being injured in a serious road crash in 2017.
