Singer Jessica Ball moves into dreamy but still heavy realms.

Eye – the new project from Mammoth Weed Wizard Bastard (MWWB) singer-songwriter and musician Jessica Ball – have announced the release of their debut album Dark Light on April 23 via New Heavy Sounds. The band was put together when Ball relocated from Wrexham to Cardiff to be with her new partner, Welsh musician Gid Goundrey, who has previously played with Super Furry Animals’ offshoot Gulp as well as former Boo Radleys frontman Martin Carr among others. Augmented by keyboardist Johnny TK, Dark Light was written in the wake of the pandemic. “The album ultimately is quite introspective, yet lyrically loose enough to be open to interpretation,” says Ball. “I’ve always been a fan of songs that seem to perfectly slot into the situation I’m experiencing and not too specific…
