Psychedelic musician goes foraging for the magic ingredient on his new album.

Singer-guitarist Kavus Torabi has claimed that a “heroic dose” of magic mushrooms not only helped him finish his new solo album, The Banishing, which is released on May 3 via Believers Roast, but also that the experience was “atheism-dissolving”. Best known for fronting Gong in the wake of Daevid Allen’s passing and as member of The Utopia Strong with snooker champion Steve Davis and multi-instrumentalist Michael J York, the Knifeworld leader recorded The Banishing during a period that saw him descend “into psychosis”.
