Wheel deal

My Honda CRM250 AR came with a spare set of wheels with knobblies on. However these spare wheels have some deep corrosion on the rims, while the ones on the bike are fine. My question is two-fold. First, can I repair the corroded rims? Will they weld? Metal paste? Second, which 17-inch road wheels might I get to fit, so I can put the knobblies on the decent wheels? I see some people on the forums have fitted Cagiva Mito wheels. Dave Moore, email Alan Seeley says: Can’t say I like the look of that corrosion at all.
