Bright spark I enjoyed your Frances 26 article (PBO March), and own the 1996 cutter-rigged Victoria 800 version. Just a note on engines: yes, most were 10hp Volvo or Yanmar, but they were only designed as a sailing auxiliary, never a prime mover against wind/tide/waves. While I understand the fitting of 12/14hp engines and possibly larger to the Frances 26 (aka the Morris 26, Victoria 26, Victoria 800), I have to say there is little engine space and indeed no room for a larger prop in the aperture.
