Paralympic sailing has ‘slim 2020 hopes’

Efforts to reinstate sailing onto the Paralympic Games programme are ongoing, with ‘the slimmest possibility’ of success for Tokyo 2020. The International Sailing Federation president and vice-president met with International Paralympic Committee (IPC) officials on 2 April. While the meeting did not manage to reverse the decision thus far, there is still hope. An ISAF spokesman said: ‘Despite the disappointment that the process to select sports for Tokyo 2020 has officially ended, ISAF will continue to work hard to reinstate sailing in the 2024 Paralympic Games and pursue the slimmest possibility of sailing being included at Tokyo 2020.’ A Royal Yachting Association (RYA) spokesman said: ‘While that slim hope remains we will continue unabated with our plans, activities and our support of our sailors and of ISAF towards sailing’s return to the Paralympic…
