STEP BY STEP Our Jeanneau SO 36i Albatross is a getting a bit full of junk (ie important sailing equipment and spares). To make matters worse, the boat is not wellendowed with cockpit locker space. Also, with so much stuff in the port-hand locker she has developed a list to that side. The heaviest and bulkiest item in that locker was the liferaft. I decided to solve all these problems at once by repositioning the liferaft (in its valise) from the locker to a canister on the starboard pushpit. A canister would cost £50, a cradle to hold the canister would cost another £100 plus, and the fittings to attach the cradle to the pushpit… well, who knows? Furthermore, the whole thing once constructed would be bulky, look awful and…
