Like many things on Aurora the portlights were originally finished by hand and are slightly different from one another. So while the frames were clearly cast out of the same mould, the fixing holes were drilled by hand and are all in different places. Each frame therefore has two halves that belong to each other, with a right and wrong way up. Each pair of frames is held together by an aluminium spigot with hand drilled holes that align with matching holes in the frames. Each pain of glass, thanks to the etchings, has a right way up and a correct inside and outside face.
