Of all the SEES members, Ken Amada doesn’t win many popularity contests among fans. Admittedly, there’s a good reason for that. Whether in real life or videogames, first impressions matter – and Ken doesn’t make the greatest initial one. While he didn’t commit the deed, his role in a particular tragedy soon after joining the team wins him no favours. Beyond the obvious symbolism of pointing evokers at your head, depression in Persona 3 is often reflected through each character’s trauma. Ken is no different, but his young age means that he’s presented differently. Though his father is never mentioned, Ken’s life took a nasty turn two years ago after his mother’s death when a Persona user lost control.
