One of the best things about gaming as a medium is how easy it is to get immersed into new and exciting worlds. When we’re controlling a character, we are that character, meaning these gaming places are, in a sense, real places we’re inhabiting for as long as we’re able to keep hold of that controller.
This month, we’re celebrating the experience of open worlds and realms of immersion. There’s no better way to kick it off than with Elden Ring: Shadow Of The Erdtree (p42), a truly hefty expansion to FromSoftware’s first stab at creating a traditional open world. The studio’s approach has changed a bit this time around, dialling in on what made the base game great.
