The answer to your first question is yes, this slightly creaky interactive interpretation is still superior to the film that inflicted the idea of midichlorians onto the world.
However, the game has issues of its own today, beginning with the way it looks. The graphics have been given a polish, which helps to emphasise the fact that, despite hardware limitations, the developers did a good job. However, the camera is often zoomed in too close, or set at an angle you’re dying to adjust (which you can’t1). It’s also worth saying that if your eyes are sensitive to anything less than a freshly waxed framerate, you’ll want to give it a miss.
