HP’s Envy Inspire 7920e is priced too high for what you get, and could prove expensive to run

PRICE £131 (£157 inc VAT) from amazon.co.uk If you want low running costs, you can choose an ink tank printer, or you could buy a device such as the Envy Inspire 7920e and sign up for HP’s Instant Ink service. For this money, the 7920e looks a little underspecified, however. It has duplex (double-sided) printing and a second photo paper tray, but its 125-sheet main cassette is stingy. Its ADF only supports single-sided copies and scans, and there’s no fax modem – a deal-breaker if you’ve got colleagues in the 1980s. This printer supports both HP’s Instant Ink and HP+ service. Sign up for the latter and you’ll get six months of free Instant Ink printing. That’s worth up to 4,200 pages, but it comes at the cost of committing to use…
