Printer consumables have always been complex. Look in a mono laser and it might have one cartridge. That sounds basic, but come to replace it and you might discover there are two options, each lasting a different number of pages. There may be third-party or refillable choices, too. Oh, and that single cartridge might actually comprise both a toner and developer drum, each with a different lifetime. Let’s try to keep things simple. First off, printers with higher-capacity cartridges or tanks require less maintenance. If you print 100 pages a week, you might change the cartridges on a basic inkjet once or twice a month.
