Netgear Orbi RBK763S

You won’t find a faster Wi-Fi 6 mesh – but weigh up your needs, as you can get 6E for a similar price

PRICE £500 (£600 inc VAT) from netgear.com/uk You’d think that Netgear was trying to make its mesh range as confusing as possible. In recent years it’s released half a dozen different Orbi systems, with similarlooking designs but wildly varying price points – right up to the noexpense-spared Orbi RBKE963(see issue 331, p68), which brings top-speed Wi-Fi 6E and multi-Gigabit Ethernet for an excruciating £1,699. At £600 inc VAT, the RBK763S sits in the middle of the range, but in the context of the wider mesh market it’s still pricey. Especially so considering it doesn’t support the latest networking standards, relying instead on Wi-Fi 6 and Gigabit Ethernet. The Mercusys Halo H80X offers the same technologies for only £162 (see opposite), while the TP-Link Deco XE75 adds Wi-Fi 6E support and still only costs…
