Amazon has rewritten what to expect from a basic e-reader, but also increased the price

PRICE With ads, £71 (£85 inc VAT) from amazon.co.uk With its latest update, the entry-level Amazon Kindle is smaller and lighter than ever: it now measures a compact 158 x 109mm while weighing only 158g. There’s also a new denim colour option, which makes a nice change from the standard black or white designs of other e-readers. You’ll have to get used to using touch gestures to navigate, however, as the smaller design has no physical controls aside from the power button – and it also means the new Kindle doesn’t feel as solid in the hand as larger, more expensive e-readers.
