If, as both the CMA and Sky suggest, the merger of Vodafone and Three will make it more difficult for the virtual networks to compete on price, that’s going to harm one of the most popular sectors of the market. A total of 13 mobile networks generated enough survey responses to be included in the Best Mobile Data Provider category in this year’s PC Pro Technology Excellence Awards (see issue 363, p28). The bottom four places in the table were filled by the major networks: EE, Three, O2 and, worst of all, Vodafone. Price is clearly a winning factor for the virtual networks.
