A strong all-rounder, but the mid-range competition is too fierce

SCORE PRICE 128GB, £333 (£399 inc VAT) from store.google.com You could argue that Google hobbled the Pixel Tablet at launch by insisting on bundling it with its wireless charging speaker dock. There was nothing wrong with the latter’s capabilities or audio quality, but now that it’s £100 cheaper the Pixel Tablet is definitely an easier sell. It’s a well-designed, compact 11in tablet with a rounded alloy shell coated with a matte faux-ceramic finish, available in an off-white porcelain or grey-green hazel. The connector for the speaker dock is embedded into the shell, and the only other physical connection is a USB-C 3.2 Gen 1 port. At only 8.1mm thick and 493g in weight, it’s not as thin and light as the iPad, but is still comfortable to hold and carry.…
