ChatGPT’s new reasoning model is unleashed in full

Sam Altman’s bullish claims that AGI could be achieved as soon as this year have taken a step closer to fruition with the full release of the o1 reasoning model. The OpenAI CEO claimed in a November 2024 interview that artificial general intelligence, the point at which AI becomes at least as capable as humans across the full spectrum of intelligence, could be achieved in 2025. Key to that is the o1 reasoning model, which has been available in preview mode to ChatGPT Plus subscribers for the past few months.
