A single-function inkjet that doesn’t quite tick all the boxes, so we’d choose one of its rivals instead

PRICE £96 (£115 inc VAT) from printerland.co.uk Not everyone needs a multifunction peripheral: Epson’s WorkForce Pro WF-C4310DW focuses on printing. It’s a cartridge-based device, offering a cheaper alternative to refillable single-functions such as Canon’s Maxify GX5550 (see issue 353, p89). Although it doesn’t have much in the way of bells and whistles, it does support automatic double-sided (duplex) printing, along with wired and wireless networking. Superficially, then, this printer has everything the home office might need if you’re just looking for a single-function device. It comes with a decent 250-sheet input cassette, and is even rated for a one-off monthly duty cycle of 33,000 pages. It’s relatively light and compact, too.
