If nobody’s quite sure when the next version of Windows will arrive, you can be more certain about the cadence of macOS. Although the annual new versions of macOS are arguably comparable to Windows’ annual updates, they have been as regular as clockwork for over a decade and don’t pull up the ladder on old Mac hardware that aggressively.
That said, with next year marking five years since Apple launched its own M1 silicon, it’s possible that macOS 16 will cease support for Intel-based processors. That would be a significant milestone, and one that underlines how Apple has mastered the shift to Arm-based silicon at a much faster lick than Microsoft has.
