As well as making its own boards, Raspberry Pi has recently started supplying its RP2350 processors to third parties, opening the door to new variations on the Pico format. The first such product to arrive is the Pimoroni Pico Plus 2 W (tinyurl.com/363pimoroni) – a board that’s the same size as the Raspberry Pi Pico and Pico 2, and fully compatible with its code and peripherals, but with some useful extra features. In place of the Pico’s outdated micro-USB connector, it uses a USB Type-C connection for power and programming, and comes with a much more generous 8GB of RAM and 16GB of flash storage.
