SCORE WEBSITE elementary.io Elementary pitches itself as a thoughtful, capable and ethical replacement for Windows and macOS. Currently at version 8, it’s based on Ubuntu LTS 24.04.1 and offered on a pay-what-you-can basis (if that’s nothing, enter zero in the box on the download page). LTS 24.04 is the most recent long-term Ubuntu release. It shipped in April 2024, which makes it two years younger than the Ubuntu LTS 22.04 on which Pop!_OS is based. It will continue to receive support until August 2029. Elementary OS looks nothing like Ubuntu, and even if you’re familiar with the OS on which it’s based, you might need a little time to find your bearings.
