Laptops coming soon?

We’re still waiting to test laptops with Nvidia’s RTX 50-series mobile chips inside, but with systems available to pre-order from 25 February we hope to test a machine or two in next month’s issue. Nvidia will be launching four variants, mirroring the desktop GPUs, but naturally the specs are lower. For example, the mobile RTX 5090 includes 10,496 CUDA cores (shaders) and 24GB of GDDR7 RAM with a 256-bit bus width. Perhaps most tellingly of all, its stated power consumption is a maximum of 90W to 150W depending on the configuration. All the mobile chips are based on the same Blackwell architecture as their desktop counterparts, and that means support for DLSS 4, plus the latest generation RT cores and tensor cores, so you should be able to switch on…
