I was awakened by the gentle timbre of waves rushing up the beach until they ran out of energy, and then whooshed back down the sand as they retreated into the Sea of Cortez. Cerulean hues were beginning to illuminate the eastern horizon as a thousand constellations slowly yielded to the coming sunrise. Crawling down from my rooftop tent, I fired up the Coleman stove for a pot-a-joe and took in the view. I considered waking my traveling companions, for they would not want to miss this brief moment of serenity.
