ANOTHER WOLF PORTABLE ENGINE COMES TO LIGHT

Alex Müller, the great-great grandson of the founder of the firm of R. Wolf of Magdeburg in Germany, has drawn our attention to the third oldest engine known to exist from the firm. This is a semi-portable and it has recently been offered for sale at Oelde - between Hamm and Bielefeld in Nord Rhine-Westphalia. The engine – No. 6511 - weighs around 5 tonnes and was constructed in 1898. Incidentally, Alex has pointed out that engine No. 1 is in the museum in Munich whereas engine No. 2 is in the museum at Magdeburg. It was planned at one time to restore the engine to operating condition at Oelde but for various reasons, this has not happened.…
