It’s sad news to report the passing of Alan Holmes, he was 67. Alan was a keen steam man who loved the show scene and was a keen photographer, particularly of the steam and miniature scene in which he was very involved. He did his bit for steam preservation over the years.
He was a Retford, Nottinghamshire man through and through and his interests in steam came through his father. Alan was a university graduate who went to work for Rolls-Royce at Derby for all of his working life, retiring in 2014. He ran the model tent at the Rempstone rally since 2011 and did similar duties at the Lincoln Steam & Vintage Rally and other events.
