MALDEGEM STEAM FESTIVAL - BELGIUM - 2025

Maldegem Stoomcentrum, situated between Bruges and Ghent, will hold its annual festival on Saturday 3 May and Sunday 4 May. There hopefully will be five standard gauge locos in steam, including the large Krupp-built ‘Hannibal’ Class 0-6-0T Tom, works number 2410 of 1940, which is entering its third year on loan to Maldegem from the suspended Ijmuiden Steelworks steam train and is now being a mainstay of services to Eeklo. On the narrow gauge line, Maldegem’s own Hanomag 0-4-0WT, Yvonne, from 1906 will operate a frequent service. The railway is honoured that the station and line have recently been recognised as a Flemish National Heritage Site by the ‘Vlaams Agentschap Onroerend Erfgoed’ (Flemish Agency for Fixed Heritage), an achievement of which the organisation is extremely proud. 2025 is also the…
