A BIG EVENT AT THE CSPS IN APRIL

The Canterbury Steam Preservation Society will be celebrating the centenary of service of its Leeds-built Fowler 0-4-0 loco No. 16246 of 1924 (PWD 548) at their McLean’s Island headquarters near Christchurch, when the loco will be hauling passenger trains during the first weekend of April. Their ‘Steam Extravaganza’ will see around twenty traction engines attending, which will probably make it one of the largest road steam rallies in the Southern Hemisphere. A hearty welcome will be given to any overseas visitors who may be able to attend. There will also be steam models, miniatures and plenty of industrial steam to be seen as well.
