In the early hours of 14 February I was reading the February 1965 issue of Motor Sport magazine, which under the esteemed editorship of Bill Boddy didn’t just cover modern motor racing, but many vintage matters of all kinds. In fact at the time Motor Sport was the bestselling monthly motoring magazine of its kind and even covered some road steam matters along the way. In the Books Reviews page Bill Boddy reviews R A Whitehead’s Garretts of Leiston and as it’s 60 years ago I thought we would run the review in Old Glory, courtesy of Motor Sport as the hardback book is still available. This was Bob’s first work of the many he went on to write on Garrett’s and of course the company was still in existence…
