THE Warriors’ bid to back-up their breakthrough season of finals football in 2018 with another top eight finish never left the launching pad in 2019. A breezy victory over the Bulldogs in their opening game at Mt Smart suggested they had all the right elements in place but from there the entire campaign went into freefall. The Warriors won just one of their next seven matches and plummeted to 12th on the competition ladder – and that’s where they would settle for much of the season.
