History re-written in new home

LOSING the familiar surroundings of Allianz Stadium could have been a source of frustration for the Roosters and a negative factor in their bid to win back-to-back titles in 2019. The stadium was off limits during the 2018-19 off-season as preparations were made for the ground’s demolition, which began in January. It meant the Roosters were forced to move their administrative and gym facilities to the Entertainment Quarter precinct and play their home games at the Sydney Cricket Ground. Most Roosters players had experienced the SCG at some point in their careers, and most were familiar with comments that it was an outdated venue for rugby league, that its angles made it difficult for players to get their bearings and that crowds won’t turn out because they’re too far from the action.
