IT was no ordinary injury crisis that rocked the Cowboys to their foundations in 2019. Many of the accidents and conditions that affected a handful of star players were once-in-a-lifetime events. Coupled with a series of off-field incidents that affected the club deeply, it was a season of freakish misfortune that sent the Cowboys tumbling to their lowest finish since 2010. Justin O’Neill had started the season in vintage form, scoring eight tries in eight games, his highest return in three years. He crossed in the 22-16 defeat of the Raiders at GIO Stadium in Round 11, playing out the game despite taking a heavy knock.
