Hot and cold year ends on Brown note

KNIGHTS fans might be regarded as the most loyal in the NRL but they are also highly attuned to a situation they don’t consider ‘fair dinkum’. Fans voted with their feet late in the season when the departure of coach Nathan Brown, after four seasons at the club’s helm, turned nasty. Midway through the year the Knights had stormed into the top eight on the back of a six-game winning run, only to slump to a losing streak of equal proportions a few weeks later. As pressure on the team mounted and the prospect of missing a place in the play-offs began to loom, Brown made the call to stand aside at the end of the season.
