The Sunday Telegraph claims that Channel Nine is pushing for the axing of an existing NRL club to allow for a second Brisbane club to be introduced before the next broadcast deal in 2023. ARLC Chairman Peter Beattie responds that “no club will be forced to move”.
Shootout in the Shire
A crowd of 18,985 farewell Sharks skipper Paul Gallen in his final home game. The match ends in golden point heartache for Gallen and the Sharks, who fall 15-14 in a dramatic field goal shoot-out. Chad Townsend kicks two one-pointers for the Sharks but is outdone by Aidan Sezer, who pots three for the Raiders.
