Record day almost spoiled by Eels

A CLEVER play by Parramatta forward Kenny Edwards set the scene for a major upset at AAMI Park but the Storm recovered for a two-point victory and passage through to a preliminary final for the third-straight year. It was a red-letter day for the Storm, with their captain Cameron Smith breaking the all-time premiership appearance record, but it nearly failed to go to plan. In their first finals appearance since 2009, Parramatta were aggressive and brave, rattled the Storm with their tactics and nearly carried off a shock win. Despite dominating early possession, the Storm led only 4-0 midway through the first half when they were penalised deep in their own territory.
