COWBOYS 14, PANTHERS 12 COWBOYS SHOW TRUE GRIT IN COMEBACK WIN A SPECTACULAR last-ditch win over the Panthers lifted North Queensland’s spirits just days after superstar halfback Johnathan Thurston was ruled out for the rest of the season. In what was supposed to be Thurston’s 300th NRL game, the Cowboys bombarded the Panthers’ line for long periods of the second half but struggled to find a way through. Penrith’s tackle count soared beyond the 400-mark and it appeared the visitors’ efforts would be rewarded with a 12-8 victory until the Cowboys finally found their way to the line with two minutes to play.
