Kangaroos grind out ‘old-fashioned’ international victory

THE WORLD Cup Final looked like following a familiar script. Australia took only 15 minutes to prise apart England’s defence after a period of sustained pressure and, having found a way through in such a short time, another crushing title victory looked on the cards. Only this time the Englishmen stood tall. On the game’s biggest stage, they rose to the occasion, met the Kangaroos head-on and went incredibly close to achieving their biggest win of all. Australia took no time to apply a headlock. Precision kicks by Cooper Cronk forced back-to-back goal-line drop-outs and the Kangaroos peppered the English line with a relentless series of charges.
