Valiant Cedars push Tonga to the limit

TONGA coach Kristian Woolf admitted his giantkilling team struggled to prepare mentally for the challenge of playing Lebanon after they snuck home by two points against the World Cup’s lowest-ranked team. Most expected the Cedars to be a simple mark for Tonga, a formality they would cope with easily before more important dates. But Woolf conceded emotion-charged clashes against Samoa and New Zealand had left his team flat heading into their quarter-final. “[Samoa] was such a big occasion for us, and then we got so up for a game against New Zealand [and] that was obviously a massive occasion,” Woolf said.
