England overcome valiant Lebanese effort

ENGLAND claimed the first victory of their 2017 World Cup campaign by easing past Lebanon at Allianz Stadium, but the win was marred by a biting allegation against winger Jermaine McGillvary. The Huddersfield flyer was accused by Lebanon captain Robbie Farah of biting his forearm in a tackle two minutes after halftime. Match officials were forced to act quickly to prevent the incident escalating into an all-in brawl before McGillvary was placed on report. The 29-year-old was later charged with contrary conduct and cited to appear before a specially convened tribunal. He was found not guilty within three minutes.
