Big men drive ‘dream team’ to crushing victory

THERE was no more dominant display on the opening weekend of the 2017 World Cup than Tonga’s 46-point victory over Scotland in the second game of the Cairns double-header. There was intense interest in the Tongan side after the decision of world-class forwards Jason Taumalolo and Andrew Fifita to turn their backs on New Zealand and Australia respectively and devote their energy to the Tongan cause. Their presence, alongside former Australia reps Michael Jennings and Daniel Tupou and a host of former New Zealand representatives including Manu Vatuvei, Sika Manu, Sam Moa and Manu Ma’u had effectively created a Tongan ‘Dream Team’.
