Flying Fijians outclass American revolution

A FIJI side oozing NRL talent ran up a record score against the USA Hawks in the opening Pool D game in Townsville. Led by former Australia representatives Jarryd Hayne (pictured, right) and Akuila Uate, the Bati displayed a ruthless intent to pile on 11 tries in a 46-point savaging of the Hawks after they led 36-6 at half-time. Fiji’s 58-point tally was a record for the island nation. Hayne was heavily involved in three early tries, while his second-half four-pointer saw him join Bob Fulton as the equal leading tryscorer in World Cup history with 13.
