Numbers only half the story of late collapse

CANTERBURY coach Des Hasler might have steered the Bulldogs to the finals for the fifth successive season, but it wasn’t surprising that questions were asked after his team crashed from premiership reckoning with four-straight defeats. Something was missing from the Bulldogs in 2016 and while post mortems were conducted long into the off-season, it was apparent that a shake-up was required to place the team back on a premiership trajectory. The Bulldogs’ board wasted no time announcing changes to the club’s playing and coaching structure, but they also moved swiftly to confirm Hasler’s job was safe.
