STATE CHAMPIONSHIP Ipswich Jets soar to interstate triumph THE Ipswich Jets made it back-toback wins for Queensland teams in the State Championship decider after accounting for Newcastle in the preliminary match to the all-Queensland NRL grand final. Continuing the blazing run that took them to their first Intrust Super Cup title a week earlier, Ipswich scored the opening try after only two minutes when prolific hooker Matt Parcell crossed for his 19th four-pointer of the season and they were never headed. The Jets showcased their unorthodox style on the biggest day of the rugby league calendar and produced numerous instances of helter-skelter attack, short restarts and other trick shots that had become their trademark under the coaching partnership of brothers Ben and Shane Walker.
