STORM 20, ROOSTERS 18 Minor premiers slip at first hurdle THE Sydney Roosters scored one of the great tries of finals football but it wasn’t enough to overcome the Storm in a gripping opening to the playoffs at Allianz Stadium. Trailing by six points as the final 15 minutes approached, the Roosters were in need of inspiration when the ball was worked towards the eastern touchline where Michael Jennings had been engaged in a game-long duel with his Australian Test centre partner Will Chambers. The Storm No.3 had done a wonderful job containing Jennings to this point but Jennings finally slipped past him, dummied to beat winger Matt Duffie, evaded fullback Cameron Munster and shrugged off Cameron Smith’s attempted tackle as he stepped back in-field before passing off to halfback Jackson Hastings.
