AN EmErgINg name in the world of automotive art, Jonathan (Joff) Carter has been showing his uniquely atmospheric mixed-media paintings and portraits to wide acclaim at motoring events throughout the UK.
His admiration for the ‘golden era’ of motor sport was nurtured from boyhood by his late father (himself an artist), who loved restoring old motorbikes and the smell of Castrol r, and championed underdogs like Parnell and Wharton.
Having trained in illustration in the early 1990s, Joff established himself as a painter and illustrator for a number of years before moving into commercial graphics. The lure of white spirit and oil paint proved too hard to resist, though, and in 2010 he returned to his roots as a decorative artist.
