As a working artist and printmaker, Emma Forde was naturally elated when the National Trust asked her to contribute some paintings for its Festival of Light in September 2014. The exhibition accompanied the beautiful lighting installation that illuminated the gardens of Mount Stewart in County Down, Northern Ireland. At that time, however, she could have had little idea that her contribution would pull her into the orbit of Ferraris, racy night-time scenes, and experimental paint techniques. Charles Hurst Specialist Cars, a Ferrari dealer in Belfast, wanted to do something memorable for the launch of the California T; filling its showroom walls with the Ferrari-themed work of six local artists was the plan, to provide a month-long backdrop to drinks parties and previews.
