1990 PORSCHE 944 TURBO
WHEN PORSCHE Centre Sutton Coldfield needed a suitable car to enter into the 2014 Porsche Classic Restoration Competition – which was commemorating the 40th anniversary of the 911 Turbo’s introduction to the UK market – Ben Carr from the parts department offered up the ideal candidate: a 944 Turbo that had been in his family for several years, having previously been owned by a local customer.
This Guards Red example of one of Porsche’s finest four-cylinder cars boasted an excellent engine and gearbox, but was getting tatty inside and out. The team at Porsche Centre Sutton Coldfield removed the motor and transmission before entrusting the rolling shell to nearby Porsche-approved prestige bodyshop, Shorade.
