IN THIS PICTLRE Ghosts in the machine MAC/VSCC meeting, Shelsley Walsh, LK. 5 July A THUNDERSTORM, power cuts and a Riley that burst its oil filter and spread lubricant over a long stretch of the hill from Kennel to the Esses were doom-laden portents at Britain’s oldest operational motor sport venue. And the scene only became weirder when Raymond Knight in the Vale Special exited Top Ess, heading for the finish, only then to disappear in a cloud of smoke and steam as a conrod forced its way out through the block. Spooky, indeed.…
